Here is some info about this service video:

This video service focuses on "Healing Holy Places" - especially on Jesus in the Temple at Capernaum, where his teaching "astounded" people - and when he healed the "Man with the unclean spirit" by casting that evil out! We will have some wonderful Pre-Service Music from Ellie Choate on harp ("I Love to Tell the Story") and from the great Louisiana Women's group "Lip Service ("Don't Cross that Bridge", and of course, some great featured Special Music from the Bethel Choir ("Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel", arr. by Roger Emerson) Plus - sing with us - about the prophets, the Still-Speaking Word of God, and a beautiful hymn called, "Wounded World that Cries for Healing" Dr. Mann's sermon is entitled, "Disrupting Demons - Healing Holy Places" Of course - there will be a special kids' video.... Please note - ALL of our music is properly licensed and used with permission. We utilize CCLI & One License. We also feature Public Domain & Original Music (by our artists).

All readings for this Sunday, January 29, 2023 (4th Sunday after Epiphany, Year A):
Micah 6:1-8 • Psalm 15 • 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 • Matthew 5:1-12

Focus Questions:
What is justice? How does its absence impact the world?
How would you characterize a just world?
What does it mean to love kindness?
How does kindness manifest in the world?
What does it mean to walk humbly with God?
What challenges does walking humbly with God present to us?

Food for Thought

“When the song of the angels is stilled, when the star in the sky is gone,
when the kings and princes are home,
when the shepherds are back with their flocks, the work of Christmas begins: to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among the people, to make music in the heart.”

Here are some tips for ways to fully participate in our online worship! (click this pic to get a pdf of these to save)

~ How to Worship with us ONLINE ~

If you’re at home with your spouse, family or significant other(s) begin by gathering around a table, or in your family/living room. If it’s just you maybe you could just join us with your computer, tablet or phone and a friend to “join” you for worship by doing the same.

2. FOCUS:

Once you’re in place light a candle to symbolize the presence of the Holy Spirit. This is a good way to signal that you are entering into sacred time, and the place where you were chatting and laughing just a moment ago has become a sacred place.

Follow along with the online service- use the pdf order of service

(Available on our website, www.BethelUCCOntario.org  )

4. READ:

Read the scriptures along with us. (They are in the online order of service, or use your own Bible)

5. SING:

Sing along with us (the words are there for you on screen and in the “bulletin”!)

Listen to the service, say the prayers with us, take notes on the sermon!

7. CLOSE:

After the Benediction, Blow out the candle.

With sharing with your family: comment, feel free to send in questions. And pray together! (Send in prayer requests and we will pray for you and yours)

Our other online activities: Bible Study, and Prayer Group! (Check the website for the latest info)

Welcome Home! Our online services are also available on FB live, YouTube Live, and Twitch and even Twitter on Sunday mornings.

Our Sunday worship services at Bethel Congregational Church UCC begin at 10am.

We encourage you to join us in person when we offer in-person worship, or if you are either unwell, or do not live in the local area, remain at home, and join in worship online. Don't hesitate to reach out by phone, text, FB message, or any other way that works for you. Support each other. Pray for one another.

Here is the link to our FB page, where you can find the recorded stream. https://www.facebook.com/BethelOntario/

Please know, that as much as I want to see all of you in the pews every week - this is still an unprecedented time. When we cannot be together in-person, we are blessed to have the ability to stay in fellowship with each other, even if we are not all in the same building at the same time. We are the church. The building is not the church. It is time to hold each other up - and we can do that, even if via virtual and remote methods.

Merry TubaChristmas is celebrating its 49th Anniversary (1974-2022). Created by Harvey Phillips, Merry TubaChristmas 2022 concerts will be presented in over 300 cities throughout the United States and in several foreign countries. First and foremost, may we give respect, thanks, and recognition to Dr. Harvey G. Phillips. Phillips was inspired to create TubaChristmas as an annual event honoring his mentor/teacher, the late great tubist William J. Bell (born Christmas Day, 1902). Every Christmas season, tuba and euphonium players of all ages, from specific geographic areas, gather to pay respect- Harvey G. Phillips and William J. Bell- all the great artists/teachers who represent their heritage. Every TubaChristmas performance features traditional Christmas carols especially arranged (for the first TubaChristmas, December 22, 1974 on "The Rink at Rockerfeller Center") by American Composer Alec Wilder (died Christmas Eve, 1980). Through Wilder, TubaChristmas concerts pay grateful tribute to composers who have embraced these noble instruments with solo and ensemble compositions. Depending on the population of any given geographic area, TubaChristmas ensembles may attract multiples of 100 participants aged 8 to over 90 years! The warm, rich organ-like sound of the tuba-euphonium choir has won the ears and hears of every audience. It is no wonder that TubaChristmas has become an established Christmas tradition in cities throughout the world.

Registration is at 12:30pm (*Registration Fee is $10 per participant) Rehearsal is from 1:30pm to 3pm Concert is at 4pm Please email gosorio@southlandsymphony.com to be included for TubaChristmas Ontario, CA or if you have any questions.
